  • Begin on a positive note; acknowledge the request and thank the employee for his accomplishments, initiative, new idea, or at least interest in assuming new responsibilities.
  • Thank you for offering to help us out in the Detroit area. From all appearances, we need something to happen there fast.
  • I appreciate your writing to let us know of your interest in transferring to our new location at the end of the summer.
  • We received your letter outlining the ways you would like to contribute to our success here at Glamore and Associates.
  • Thank you for being so candid with your expectations about your future responsibilities here at Bryan-Westin.
  • Thank you for forwarding your résumé and information packet with the summary of your accomplishments here.

  • Focus your request on the company’s standards for measurement. In other words, what do they value in an employee and do you possess that skill or trait?

  • As you may know, I’m single and, thus, travel and long hours will be no problem for me.

Except in special cases, employees terminated under these categories are not eligible for continuing salary and benefits.

Discharge for retirement, layoff, and resignation are entitled to receive full or partial salary and/or benefits including severance pay. In cases of retirement, health and pension benefits remain intact. Those laid off receive only health benefits during the non-working period but are entitled to full pay and benefits upon reinstatement. Those who resign are entitled to health benefits for a period of four months after the last day worked plus pension benefits accrued.

When any employee violates a rule of Brown Industries, the supervisor will follow this procedure:

• First Violation – Counsel the employee and issue a verbal warning, make sure it is understood this is a formal warning. Finally, place a memo in the employee’s files detailing the problem or incident and listing any recommendations made.

• Second Violation – Conduct a formal meeting with the employee in which you clearly state the nature of the violation and any recurrence could lead to suspension or dismissal. Following a period of suspension there is mandatory 90-day probation period. All dismissals must be approved by the human resource director.

An employee can be dismissed at any time, without regard to the preceding steps if his/her offense is of an extremely serious nature or if his continued presence would disrupt the company and other employees.

• Supervise office workers in Northbridge office to ensure effective office activities
• Enforce the policies of Jones & Lockhart.
• Implement the directives of the Northbridge office director
• Stock and track usage of office supplies

3. Starting date of employment: February 1, 19–

4. Regular working days and hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

5. Salary: $29,000

6. Benefits:

• health insurance: National Life Flex Plan, funded by Jones & Lockhart and policy holder co-payments
• vacation: two weeks out of every calendar year
• investment retirement fund: 401K

7. Employment is at will and may be terminated by you or Jones & Lockhart without cause.

8. Jones & Lockhart reserves the right to modify these terms of employment.
